Will One Cigarette Harm My Baby

Review: Floods - What Hell Is flood?!?

Genre: Heavy Metal

Output: 2010 / Self

Type: EP

the rain to the musicians from Bientina in the province of Pisa and propose a clear influence from heavy metal to '80s British school, not by chance that our band are defined as New Wave Of Heavy Metal Bientina, as evidence of their love for certain sounds and their self-ironic attitude. "What Is Hell Floods ?!?", debut EP of the boys from Tuscany, which contains 4 tracks in the flesh fire is much too much for my taste and now I will explain the reasons that led me to think that. The group has an excellent technical command / executive instruments and this is demonstrated through the voice of Nico (singer of high-quality voice full-bodied and crisp, perfect for the genre), the guitars played by the same Nico and Flavio Martinelli at different times give us riffs / melodies / solos really beautiful, and finally by the rhythm section formed by Alexander Wolf (bass and vocals) and JF on drums, always adept at hitting hard and in giving the right "punch" to the sound of the flood! That said, I was not convinced by the side of the composition, often lack the "song form", the passages between the various "pieces" of the pieces in these cases are forced and this contributes to
make them less smooth. This is for instance the case of "Scarecrowns, Guardians Of Hellfields" which presents a break with a very aggressive riffs and adrenaline but at some point is muted and glued to the pre-verse ... A real shame because that riff is very fomentante and I think the group could continue the song on that route (a great outburst up There was all-time!) and then put a small detachment to get to the next pre-verse.
other hand, the rain to offer good ideas in terms of vocal lines that prove very convincing (except for "Heavy Machine Gun" and "Sign From Above ", but I think it also depends riff of selecting unsuitable for the vocals ... I refer to the verses), a healthy headbanging riff rock (and I quote again "Scarecrowns, Guardians Of Hellfields" has a verse that very well, and blood) and melodies / solos guitar very expressive, but that's not enough to make up smooth and pleasant to listen to songs. In concluding this review, I'm sorry but I have to reject it, "What Is Hell Floods ?!?". failure date is one of those mild, recoverable through commitment, perseverance ... The simple determination / self criticism in try to bring out the best from themselves! I know ... Take pleasure is never a shortage but my assessment is only the fruit of what I have heard and so I try (and hope) of also make it useful for these kids who maybe reading this will have the opportunity to reflect more on their work. The advice I can give is to treat the band structures of the songs better future, so I really believe that there are good steps forward in the next studio album!
