That trip marked both their lives forever -
E 'dead at age 88 of natural causes at his home of Havana, Alberto Granado, Che Guevara's companion on the journey that took them to a motorcycle about Latin America and formed their political and social life. His ashes will be scattered between Cuba, Venezuela and Argentina, as his desire.
Granado was born on August 8, 1922 in Cordoba (Argentina) and moved in revolutionary Cuba in the sixties, founded in 1962 the medical school in Santiago. Was memorable for him, and Che, that trip aboard a Norton 500 in 1939, which they named the two 'Powerful'.
Knowing the reality of Peru, Chile and Venezuela and other countries, working and living in close contact with the poor and lepers, Ernesto Guevara developed social awareness that made him, then one of the leading figures of the Cuban revolution and symbol of world revolution for freedom. Granado, a graduate in Natural Sciences and Pharmacology, strengthened during the trip his medical vocation and stopped in Venezuela to work in a clinic for lepers.
The unforgettable adventure of two young Argentines have been the subject of the film "The Motorcycle Diaries." Granado always spoke very glad of that journey with Che Guevara. During his public meetings often smiled telling little anecdotes about the bike or the conduct of Che always altruistic. The mortuary was set up in the neighborhood of Vedado, in Havana.
